Why doesn't Poulsbo have a family diner?

Missing in Poulsbo

We did before Mitzel's burned down and I'm amazed that no one has started up a new diner joint around here.  The Taprock Grill doesn't quite fill the void.  Poulsbo is just ripe for a diner.   This is a family community and there really isn't a conveniant place around here to go to for pancakes, waffles or french toast in the morning.

I wish I had the money to open one myself.  I'd call it the Poulsbo Diner and you would be able to get all the classic diner offerings: panckakes, omelettes, burgers, shakes, grill cheese sandwiches and good strong coffee.

Poulsbo's Centennial Park

Here's Centennial Park on NE Iverson by the Poulsbo library

Park and Rust. Always a winning combination!

I'm not sure if your food will be protected during rainfall.

I'm sorry but what are these things supposed to be??? Trees after a nuclear attack? They just look like something dragged out from the junk yard.

Back in 2005, the city of Poulsbo made a call for artists to submit sculpture designs.  This is the best they could come up with with?  I don't mean to offend anyone but I have to be honest.  This is not art.  This is something I could make without any real thought.  They are just rusty, metal poles curved to look like trees, I guess.  Sadly, this park is not the only example of this kind of "art" where any old thing is just thrown up and the public is just suppose to accept it as being something creative and beautiful when it is not.

New speed limit on Highway 305 starts today

In its infinite wisdom, the Washington State Department of Transportation will be imposing new speed limits on drivers using Highway 305 between Poulsbo and the Bainbridge Island starting today.

Two stretches of 305 have been reduced from 55 MPH to 50 MPH.

No doubt this will make it easier for commuters to reach the ferry in the morning and it will enable you to get home more quickly. Right? What fun it will be to drive to the ferry, stuck behind one of the slowpokes on Bainbridge who thinks it is their duty to drive at least 10 miles below the speed limit, all the way down 305 until they make that turn onto Winslow!

Will WSDOT ever realize its is supposed to IMPROVE traffic conditions and not to slow us down? I wonder if there's any chance they will get rid of those idiotic HOV lanes in Poulsbo. Don't count on it.

Lost power last night

I live near Miller Bay and we lost power last night around 9:30 PM and it came back on about three hours later. And this happened before the wind storm. Did anyone have power issues last night? I'm curious if anyone knows what was responsible for the power outage.

Welcome to the Poulsbo Life blog!

I hope we can talk about life here in Poulsbo, Washington.  This is not meant to be an up-to-date, news all the time blog, just some fairly random thoughts and observations about the area.  I'm not even sure exactly what I want to do with this and I will be making changes as we go along.  I enjoy living in Poulsbo with my family.  It's a wonderful place and let's hope it stays that way.
